</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Mr Moe has been a heavy hitter in the Norwegian metal scene for awhile now. He's Currently in Dimension F3H, Trail of Tears, and Cutthroat. And also did some session bass work for the band, Kampfar. Thankfully he was gracious enough to agree to an interview! So sit back, relax and enjoy the read! </div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />

</div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Shawn: Good evening Mr Moe, Thanks for taking the time to do this interview! You recently returned from some touring with Kampfar as a session bass player. How did that go? And can we expect any more work between you and Kampfar in the future?</div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br style="line-height: 17px;" /></div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><b style="font-weight: bold; line-height: 17px;">Mr Moe: Heey! No problem, the pleasure is mine. Yes, I was on the road with Kampfar for a two weeks period in Europe. It was a co headliner tour together with fellow countrymen Vreid, Secrets Of The Moon from Germany and also Krakow from Norway as support. It was over all expectations! I had basically a bit more then ten days to learn their hole sett-list and one weekend rehearsal together as a whole band before the tour started, and we all kicked ass every night! Kampfar is a little bit different then what I do normally, and their fans are so into it in a way that i wasn’t really used to, so It was a great experience for me. I was a little nervous for what the diehard Kampfar fans would say, but far as I know all their fans was satisfied and the feedback has been overwhelming! Jon, their permanent bass player witch had to sit out of the tour due personal reasons, are back on track again and ready to shred the bass that only he can! So my job is done and I wish them good luck on the US-tour that starts in September. Make sure to check them out!</b><br style="line-height: 17px;" /><br style="line-height: 17px;" />Shawn: You've been a heavyweight in the Norwegian Metal community for awhile now. With your work in, Trail of Tears, Dimension F3H, and Cutthroat. and you've always toured all over, So how does other countries compare to Norwegian concerts? And where do you prefer to gig at?</div><div lang="en" style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br style="line-height: 17px;" /></div><div lang="en" style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><b style="font-weight: bold; line-height: 17px;">Mr Moe: It is difficult to say. I dont think I have any spesific places that I prefer above another . Each country has its charm, and a different type of audience. I dont wan`na sit here and compare, but ofcourse I have felt the difference between a show in my hometown and Mexico! At that time I got really into the music-thing and I also started to play some guitar, piano and bass guitar in the same period. I also was in a marching band as a drummer in 6 years before had a little stop with the playing before I decided to concentrate 100% on the bass . I think the inspiration to concentrate on bass and to be serious about it, was the fact that I wanted to be more in the front. Easy as that! Just run around on stage and head bang ;) I also have to say that I haven’t felt so dedicated and hungry as I am at the moment, so my main goal now is to travel around and play music as much as I can. </b><br style="line-height: 17px;" /><br style="line-height: 17px;" />Shawn: Working on any new music with any of your bands at the moment? and any news you can share?<b style="font-weight: bold; line-height: 17px;"></b></div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br style="line-height: 17px;" /></div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><b style="font-weight: bold; line-height: 17px;">Mr Moe: Yeah, it is a lot happening this days and I am really exited about it. We have been working some months now with pre-production for the new Trail Of Tears album. I have a really good feeling, and I am so looking forward to start recording it in September at Sound Suite Studios in Marseille, France. We have also started making plans about a new Cutthroat album, and I hope that before the year is done, we have released a new death metal album. When it comes to Dimension F3h, Morfeus are working on new material and the songs that I have heard Is the best DF3H songs ever made, but since he is quite busy with Mayhem and we others also have our bands and projects, we are not in any hurry at the moment. My guess is that we will start recording early in 2012 and then do some shows right after.</b></div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br style="line-height: 17px;" /></div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Shawn: You've worked with quite a few bands. Trail Of Tears did a headliner tour there back in 2008 together with Echoes Of Eternity and Unexpected as support. It was total 23 shows In one month , with also three shows in Canada and one show in Mexico. It was a great tour, and we did see many cool places. One of the highlights was to play at the legendary Whiskey Go Go in Hollywood. I really felt a good atmosphere there! I cant remember any specific story’s, but since this was my first big and long tour, I learned that you don’t have to party every day or second day after a show! It was some moments that I was so tired that I was laying in my bunk on the bus sleeping the whole day before the next gig, but anyways the tour was a big success and we gave the fans something to remember every night.</b></div><div style="line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><a href="" name="heroEvent0" style="color: #0068cf; cursor: pointer; font-weight: inherit; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank"></a><b style="font-weight: bold; line-height: 17px;">One strange moment I remember very well was when Dimension F3h was supporting Mayhem on their tour In Europe. This weeks review by Bert: Somnae Forever More EP<br />
<br />
<br />
Hailing from the darkest reaches of Seattle in the Pacific Northwest, Somnae employ a very specific and strategic nod to the Swedish Gothenburg sound. Somnae also elicits a wink to Opeth’s first three records, but that doesn’t detract anything from what they’re accomplishing here. Being a long time fan of the Swedish style, to hear it so close to home is a little strange, yet its alluring. Little is known about this band, they employ guitarists Ernesto Oropeza, Rob Steinway, bass and vocalist Krelian. I picked this up at the now defunct Discotek store on a whim, and I was impressed.<br />
<br />
<br />
Forever More sounds different, in that there is a prose and fluidity. Guitar tone is heavy, using a flexible ambient texture, with an emotionally atmospheric timber. Vocally its gruffer, sometimes bleeding out into the background, perhaps because of the mix. The drumming is precise, and somewhat moodily driven. The overall feel is dark as hell, but temperate in its conceptual scope. Its vast and illuminates with each of the three tracks: Forever More, An Ominous Strain, and Fragile Tomorrow. For me this experience was short, and I yearn to hear more as there was talk of a full length down the road. I eagerly await its eventual release.<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading.<br />

Assyrian has been around since 2009 and today I'll be reviewing their new EP, Self Portrait. They claim to be Dark, Progressive, Death, Doom, Post Metal. And even with all those genre tags i'd still have to say they are stepping outside the box on this EP.<br />
<br />
The album starts off with "Impromptu" which can even sound a little like "Black Metal" at times with a little bit of drone thrown into the mix as well. This is a rather slow track which what feels like some improvised guitar work. I'm liking the sound here though.<br />
<br />
I admit I was a little apprehensive about reviewing this album, the massive list of genres kinda scared me a little. But I can happily say this album was an absolute pleasure to listen to. I'd also like to mention that I will not be able to genre tag this release. So much going on in this album and I will not delude it with a shit ton of unnecessary genre tags.<br />
<br />
This album can appeal to fan of heavy music, as well as fans of band along the lines of "Opeth" or even "Novembers Doom" But at the same time they remain unique.This band is doing something special and I am greatly looking forward to their future works.<br />
<br />
Only a few cons with this album<br />
<br />
The track, Phobos seemed a little out of place to me.<br />
And the mix was a little rough on some of the tracks. But I'm letting that slide seeing as this is a self released Ep. They did absolutely amazing work with what they had.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">9/10</span><br />
<br />
Amazing album from start to finish!<br />

Sal Abruscato, has gone from being a former drummer of Type O Negative, and Life Of Agony, and reinvented himself as a front man of his new band A Pale Horse Named Death. Where has Sal been for the last umpteen years? He’s been somewhat of an enigma outside any band in quite some time. He wasn’t content sitting around doing nothing when Life Of Agony went on hiatus.<br />
<br />
<br />
Sal’s been under the radar. The beginning stages of A Pale Horse started in 2009. When Peter Steele passed in 2010, it spurred Mr. Abruscato into action. Where am I going with this? I think drummers get a lot of shit because of their position within bands they play in. If there wasn’t such a stigma associated with the cliche of being one sole position in a band, I think the field can be a lot more open, and interesting. Otherwise Sal’s evolution of being a drummer to a singer/songwriter is proving to be a welcomed endeavor.<br />
<br />
<br />
I fucking love this record. Sal handles himself very well with And Hell Will Follow Me. Some of the topics range from personal addictions, sorrow, pain, loneliness, and death. For many listeners this would be depressing subject matter to even broach let alone listen to. What impressed me with this record is how well Sal took an honest approach and I felt like he really doesn’t insult the listener.<br />
<br />
<br />
All these tracks are my favorites. The songwriting has strong influences i.e The Doors, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, and Alice In Chains. Sal has done a remarkable job of making this his own, and this is what impressed me.<br />
<br />
<br />
Summarizing: And Hell Will Follow Me is without a doubt one of my favorite releases of 2011. There is emotion, feeling, and a sense of closure. Though the lyrics lean towards familiar, and a tad cliche, the overall feel of the record is a comfort blanket to already unknown and disturbed period of time for a great many of us. Its how we chose to deal with the problem, whereas Sal was able to embrace and make something he could his own.<br />

Thanks for reading.<br />

<br />
Alright, fans of this band have been waiting for this album for a very long time, and most of them are pretty ticked off it seems. They've went for a different theme for this album. They even added some Industrial elements to the music.<br />
<br />
Well I personally have no problem with Industrial themed metal, but this album left me pretty much dead in the water. There are a few good tracks, "Existo Vulgore" "Blades for Baal" and "Nevermore" are pretty fucking awesome. And to a lesser extent "I Am Morbid" But I confess the fake crowd chanting "Morbid" came off cheesy as fuck.<br />
<br />
I mean come on lets be honest, this album is a let down for sure. Fans have been waiting since 2003 for some more awesome death metal from this classic band, but this is not the come back they needed to make.<br />
<br />
Cons?<br />
<br />
1) Poor song structure and lazy drumming<br />
2) Cheesy ass lyrics<br />
3) Omni Potens was just a fucking pointless intro, did it really need to be over two minutes long?<br />
<br />
Pros?<br />
1) Some solid riffing<br />
2) Vocals are pretty tight<br />
<br />
This album asked one question, Am I Morbid? No I guess I'm not.<br />

I’m comfortable with saying this right here, its a heavy nasty pile drive punch to the face. There is balls to the wall speed, dripping with male attitude, all combined in a ten song package to chew through. It also helps to know there are two clear prominently important people in this band; Dave Linsk guitarist of Overkill, and drummer Tony Ochoa of ex-Sindrome.</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;"></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;">I love the drumming on this record. </div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;"></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;">Then there is Dave’s guitar work. He employs a high end treble crunch that ‘s distinguishable from modern players. I’d give the comparison to Fight’s second album A Small Deadly Space in which that guitarist Mark Chaussee used to similar effect. Dave’s application of the three chord groove, and his pitch perfect soloing enticed me into taking up playing air guitar, while throwing up my horns.</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;"></div><div style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;">Dave Linsk vocals employ a hardcore style. <br />
Alright, time to review the new Crimfall album. Crimfall is a Finnish band and Metal Archives has them down as Symphonic/Power/Viking/Folk metal. lol That's a hefty list of genres right there.<br />
<br />
Well, I can agree with the genre tagging, their pulling in influences from tons of other styles. And honestly? It's working. I don't get into Power metal much anymore, but they add in some Death Growls and Vikingesque styles enough to keep me interested.<br />
<br />
They have two vocalists here, male and female, and the female vox is just beautiful. Helena has a wonderful voice that adds plenty of depth to the music, and Mikko adds his harsh vocals at just the right times. When the music is on the heavier side.<br />
<br />
The album is just "epic" total battle metal with some symphonic edges. "Frost upon their graves" actually reminds me of Arkona in a way. I'm not comparing the two only saying the track reminded me of a track from Arkona. And I like Arkona, so that's not a band thing. Actually it kind of feels like they've taken what Battlelore is doing and ran with it. And at the same time added their own style.<br />
<br />
The Male vocalist has some great harsh vocals, He almost uses a Black Metal rasp. It's comes off great with the style of extreme metal they dish out.<br />
<br />
They add just about everything to the mix on this album, the track Shackles Of The Moirai even has a black metal feel to it.<br />
<br />
Honestly? I loved this album. Quite an enjoyable play through! Yet another great Finnish band, and no I don't count HIM among the great Finnish bands. >_><br />
<br />
Tracks like, Shackles Of The Moirai, Frost Upon Their Graves, and the title track The Writ of Sword are without a doubt the highlights on this album Do yourself a favor and check out this band!<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading,<br />

<br />
Alright, heard about this album a few days ago from a friend of mine, after checking a song on YouTube I had to review this album.<br />
<br />
Havok plays thrash metal with a classic sound. Hard to believe this is a new album, this album totally takes me back to the old school days of thrash. And trust me that's a very welcome feeling. This album just grabbed me by the collar and didn't let me go until it finished. A pure sonic assault on my senses. The bands been around since 2004, and to be honest there are plenty of new bands playing with the classic thrash sound, but they pull it off flawlessly on this album.<br />
<br />
The music on this album reminds me a lot of Overkill's earlier work and the vocals here are like a mixture of Tom Araya from Slayer, and Bobby Blitz from Overkill. And that's a nice combo if you ask me. Tracks like, D.O.A, Covering Fire, and Time Is Up, prove that this band is here to stay and thrash the fuck out for years to come.<br />
<br />
The drummer is doing some crazy shit here, Keeping in time but throwing in some crazy fillers and rolls. Mad respect for his skill behind the kit. I'm going to have to keep my eye on him for sure.<br />
<br />
The twin guitar attack on this album is outstanding, The riffing is more than solid and the solos are freaking top notch. They might be young but they are playing like old pros here.<br />
<br />
Ok, time for a few cons here, don't worry it's only a few. ;)<br />
<br />
1) The bass is a little to low in the mix for my taste. Could have been turned up just a little bit.<br />
2) While they are doing some pure thrash, and I'm loving that for sure! I'm just concerned that they aren't really adding anything. "new" to their sound. To be honest if I had heard this song and not known who the band was I would have assumed they were "insert random classic thrash band here"<br />
<br />
I think they need to work on their own identity for some future releases, but please don't go fucking Djent!<br />
<br />
But all that aside, this was a fucking outstanding album. And if you're a fan of thrash metal this is without a doubt a MUST own!<br />

<br />
I am a seeker of new music. I’m on a constant lookout for anything different. My process involves separation of prior knowledge of any genre. It can be a dead weight especially when it comes to prior proveclivity, and it helps be impartial until one has fully grasped the intent. One has to separate oneself from the equation, while letting the ear ingests the premise. It helps to have a solid foundation with an open mind and a distinguishable ear. I am forever grateful for having spent my younger years combing through anything I could hear. Though I’m an older listener, and fan of metal in a general terms, I am always open to fresh minds, and new ideas.<br />
<br />
<br />
During my downtime I’m usually parsing the internets for whatever strikes my listening fancy. Upon my many online jaunts last year, I stumbled upon Turbocharged via their myspace page. My first impression was their rawness and unrelenting attitude. The production on with their demo material was a work in progress. Little did I know they had released a full length late in the year.<br />
<br />
<br />
AntiXtian is full of gnarly vocals and a lethal dose of dislike toward anything related to christianity. Whereas the guitar tone is like a chainsaw rumbling around inside my skull, tussled with a fuzzy distorted bass tone, all while the drumming is unforgiving, and pummeling.<br />
<br />
<br />
The intro track is a warning, whereas track 2: AntiXtian builds its slow ascent. Bass, and guitar are distinguishable at first, as the drums settle into a groove. Then track 3 slams the listeners ears with a razor blade bass and guitar. The record itself is a wall of smeared vestiges of darkness, and death to all religions.<br />
<br />
Every song evokes major aggressive tendencies. Nothing about this album says please be fair because I’m timid. AntiXtian is brutal and nasty to its core. Turbocharged are a pissed off roaring metal band, and employ it in gapes and maws.<br />
<br />
<br />
But where does this lead me the listener? Does this impact stay upon repeated listens? I hope this isn’t going to be it, but then again I’m kind of tripping over wanting to like this, and other the hand want rip this release asunder for all its uses of lyrical cliches, and by the paint by numbers metal anthems.<br />
<br />
To be fair, they get kudos for being fierce, damning, and focused. On the flip side, its some of the most redundant concepts I’ve heard. I would have liked a little variety with the lyrical content, otherwise the group doesn’t lack strong musicianship, nor aggression. I give this record two out of five stars. Maybe their next release will have something more varied? One can hope right? Thanks for reading.<br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;">Shroud of Despondency is a United States Black Metal band, and I'll be reviewing their third full length, Objective: Isolation. I confess I get nervous whenever I first hear USBM, as I've never been a fan of Americas version of my favorite sub-genre. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;">Shroud of Despondency, Isn't your normal USBM outfit though. While they are playing black metal here, they add in some things from the modern metal scene here in the USA. A few flourishes on the track "This Transcends Belief" that are more akin to Deathcore than black metal. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;">They seem to add plenty of variety to their music. Which at the very least makes this an enjoyable album. Tracks like "A Life Well lived" and "Wound" show they aren't just another annoying and bland USBM playing the same sorry style of Americanized black metal that we are use to hearing from the states. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;">I can say I enjoyed this album, The production is spot on, and they play their instruments very well. Anyone whose doesn't like USBM should give this band a shot. I'm looking forward to hearing more from this band in the future. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;">But the track, "Silence After The Downfall" is without a doubt the track that takes a step forward and makes a bold statement. From the epic intro with the news caster talking about a nuclear detonation. And from there the track just grows and grows until it finally hits a climax and moves into an epic outro. This track just has to be heard. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-size: x-large;">8/10</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;">I must look further into this bands catalog and see what else they have to offer, this was an incredibly enjoyable album. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;">I don't always metal, But when I do I'm more metal than you.</span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright, here we go again. This is my review for the new Winds of Plague album, Against the World. They are a Deathcore outfit from California, They've been around since 2002 and this is their fourth full length album.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I had never heard of this band before, but I wanted to check the out album, "even if I do loathe deathcore" Because of the guest appearance by former WWF Champion, The Ultimate Warrior. Yea you read that right, He doe's some spoken word vocals on the track, The Warriors Code.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Well, the first thing I noticed was the intro, Raise the Dead. It has a pretty epic almost "trailerhead" feel to it. If you don't know what that is YouTube it. And it gets heavy about at the halfway mark of the track. And honestly I was starting to think I might enjoy this album..</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Then the second track starts, One for the Butcher. Instantly the singer goes into the fucking Pig Squealing vocals, which is the main reason I hate grindcore. So yea I wasn't to thrilled.. lol Riffing on the track is solid even if it does have that fucking staple american sound and style.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Anyway i'm just going to skip to the track that features, The Ultimate Warrior.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The Warrior Code, is the track and to be honest I kind of like it. lol Takes me back to the old days of my childhood when I use to wanna be him. lol Many of wresting matches with my friends we're done while I was pretending I was the Ultimate Warrior. Not really that much to say about it, He doe's the normal rants he always did during his time in the WWE. It also has some interesting backing music to it. If I'm honest I'm not totally sure what instrument is that's backing his voice. Might be a keyboard but It has an Asian sound to it. /shrug. I did love one of his quotes in his rant. "To give NOT ONE FUCK for the idea of original sin."</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">They do have another track I "somewhat" enjoyed.. Only Song Were Allowed to Play In Church Venues, yea thats the title. It's a decent Instrumental with some guitar solos and some piano work.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">All in all, this album may appeal to people who like this genre of music. I do not, so I was pretty bored through out this album. They know how to play their instruments, but that really doesn't matter when you play such a cookie cutter style of metal.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-size: x-large;">3/10</span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright, here we are again with another album review. This time I'll be reviewing the brand spanking new Arch Enemy opus, Khaos Legions! I've been waiting for this one for awhile and have basically been chomping at the bit to review the album since I conducted my Interview with Angela Gossow. Check that out <a href="http://inmetalitrust.blogspot.com/2011/05/angela-gossow-interview-arch-enemy.html">here</a>.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright I have a confession to make, I love this fucking band and have for years but I'd also like to say I was a little disappointed with their last album, Rise Of The Tyrant. Which it was a "good" album it just didn't stand up well with the older material. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Very happily that is not the case with this album, this is a complete return to form for the band. They have stated that they spent over a hundred thousand euro making this album, and believe me it shows. The sounds is crystal clear, the production is amazing. And everyone in the band is performing at "what might be" the best they have to date. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Angela's voice has never been better, she's really brought it up to another level for this album and once again proves that she can rock harder than most men behind the mic. And still remain one of the most beautiful women in metal at the same time. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Tracks like, Blood Stained Cross, Through The Eyes Of A Raven, and Thorns In My Flesh, all show that she is one of the premiere extreme metal vocalists, and shall remain so for many years to come. I could not be happier with her performance. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm8q__1COZoCDtPPf0LgFecUFkfsLDSrBNIY_O8y-3dQO5zylkHwXYqVmYzKKbNk4dkaUDjlO8ESW6X53W6fDVK5wGzDxgnnSC_SAorkZOugyVUL1qXAd296mBqSNUpWJH5m7Jk73a2sE/s1600/207519_201982206503337_142695605765331_599105_4929214_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm8q__1COZoCDtPPf0LgFecUFkfsLDSrBNIY_O8y-3dQO5zylkHwXYqVmYzKKbNk4dkaUDjlO8ESW6X53W6fDVK5wGzDxgnnSC_SAorkZOugyVUL1qXAd296mBqSNUpWJH5m7Jk73a2sE/s320/207519_201982206503337_142695605765331_599105_4929214_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The Amott brothers prove once again that they are capable of making some of the most breakneck riffing and can also switch at the drop of a hat into a beautiful and heartfelt melody. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Yesterday Is Dead And Gone, Bloodstained Cross, and Cult Of Chaos, show the pure brutaillty they are capable of, while The three instrumentals, Khaos Overture, We Are A Godless Entity, Turn To Dust, and the acoustic track, Snow Bound, Prove they can still inject more than enough skill and emotion to keep even the most judgmental guitar tech happy at the same time. I can also say that I don't think they have ever sounded better. The guitar sound they have on this album is wonderful! </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Then we have <span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;">Sharlee D'Angelo, this man is without a fraction of a doubt one of my favorite bass players thats ever walked the earth. Not only is he in Arch Enemy "and slaying it here I might add" but he's also played in both King Diamond AND Mercyful Fate. Sharlee, I have a mancrush on you bro! </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;">Ok, enough hero worship. Sharlee doe's exactly what he needs to do. He holds the low register in check while adding in his fresh and unique style of playing. It perfectly meshes with this album! </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;">Last but not least we have, </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Daniel Erlandsson. While I'm not going to say he's doing anything groundbreaking behind the kit, I can tell you he's doing exactly what needs to be done for this album. And really this might be his best work to date. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Odd to praise a drummer, Thats normally what I'm critical of. Nice to be surprised! </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">All in all I have to say this is not your normal Arch Enemy album, that much is for sure. But I can tell you without a doubt and you can tell everyone you heard it here first. They are back and they are slaying. Loved every track of this album, and I can say this will go down as my favorite Arch Enemy album to date. They have outdone themselves and I cannot wait until their US tour. You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be front and center punishing my body! </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Do yourself the favor of BUYING this album! If you've been a fan of this band in the past or you're just learning about them this is the album for you. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: x-large;">10/10 </span></span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Good evening, and welcome to my newest interview. Vulkodlak is a black metal outfit hailing from non other than Birmingham, Alabama. I reviewed the demo they put out recently and I must say these guys. "While they are America, and USBM normally fails" they have a bright future ahead of them. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Vulkodlak plays with a true Scandinavian spirit and I confess I am looking forward to future releases from this band. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: Good evening, and thanks for taking the time to sit down for this interview. How's Birmingham after all that Tornado shite that happened the other week?</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: Thanks for having me sir. There are definitely some parts that are still decimated and will not be rebuilt for quite awhile. Definitely a tragedy, many lives lost or ruined</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: Black Metal isn't a very popular Sub-Genre of metal over here in America. So what got you started into Black Metal?</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: Venom!!!!!! That was my first exposure to the genre whether you actually consider them that or not. I was a youngen, maybe 13, and I always saw the guys in Metallica and Slayer wearing these imposing, Baphomet-ridden shirts of this band called Venom. So in my early quest to find the most evil, brutal, fastest, nastiest, offensive, etc. I decided to check them out. I think I first bought a Best Of called In Memorium at a Best Buy in either Athens or Savannah, GA. I guess my first exposure to 2nd wave stuff was when I got big into the Metal Blade bands. I bought the Deathmeister compilation which had bands like Ancient, Dark Funeral, Hecate Enthroned....stuff like that.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizP1-AjNP4usO_M6WVm8VyQ_-iXjmkD5ScKAQrj2GWg7ChCrHlKPJQfVKmu8puC3lD_JBcHx8brQqUR2JQ-jX1WO11GBIpz1sDhnBft1p_QbGtt3jqb25NT_6T5jbJovZhIgp7ADCErww/s1600/vulkodlak2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizP1-AjNP4usO_M6WVm8VyQ_-iXjmkD5ScKAQrj2GWg7ChCrHlKPJQfVKmu8puC3lD_JBcHx8brQqUR2JQ-jX1WO11GBIpz1sDhnBft1p_QbGtt3jqb25NT_6T5jbJovZhIgp7ADCErww/s320/vulkodlak2.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: You recently released your first demo, which I reviewed. So what's next for the band? Maybe a full length album in the near future? </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: No recording plans for the immediate future. We've certainly got the material for a full-length but for now we're more concerned with playing new places around the country (world?) and spreading the demo around.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: Tell us a bit about the name, Vulkodlak. What does it mean? and how did you get the idea to use it as the band's name. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: Vulkodlak is a Serbo-Croatian variation on an ancient Slavic word for werewolf, or in some instances vampire. I found myself becoming increasingly interested with the mythology and folklore of my own people, as I am of Croatian descent. That's primarily what this band deals with is Slavic folklore, mythology, and history. It's a lot more interesting to me now than some other European mythologies simply for the fact that it hasn't been explored as much, especially in black metal. Everybody who listens to black metal with any amount of fervor is going to at least have a base knowledge of Norse mythology because of the huge impact the Scandinavian bands have had on the scene. I figure this way, I'm at least giving them something a little different. Although we certainly aren't the first black metal band to explore the more general elements of Slavic lore such as say....vampires or Vlad Tepes or Countess Bathory but nonetheless we like to dig deeper into the regions' lore in addition to covering those subjects</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: Tell us a bit of the history behind the band. How did you get started? And how pleased are you with the current lineup? </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: Vulkodlak was originally a side-project formed in June of 2010 by myself, Bobby Ungerbuehler, and Ben Sperling. At the time we were in a band called Ardurous playing an eclectic mix of extreme genres, everything from groove to thrash, melodic-death to deathcore. I just thought it might be fun to try something different, a tad more orthodox i guess, and just start an old school black metal band. I do pretty much all the writing in the band so it eventually started taking up all my "musical" time and my heart just wasn't in Ardurous anymore so i decided to stick with Vulkodlak full-time. Ben and Bobby are still proud members of Ardurous, as they should be......killer band for sure. I'm very pleased with the current line-up, we are brothers from the start and all of us bring something different to the table without taking anything away, I wouldn't change a thing.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOIN5exw7P2s7O0WtfVHay2UMPGp68g_gUNPWZ3rqo-FiF5MX12YlTODGzRyvjLGRIyp2OzpBD4f98PC7gKDfydEmEoPdTcJDX_L2GnJ3-vt7NDWD_NkKN0EVDRjbK8oIjoxrIOcQ_35s/s1600/vulkodlak3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOIN5exw7P2s7O0WtfVHay2UMPGp68g_gUNPWZ3rqo-FiF5MX12YlTODGzRyvjLGRIyp2OzpBD4f98PC7gKDfydEmEoPdTcJDX_L2GnJ3-vt7NDWD_NkKN0EVDRjbK8oIjoxrIOcQ_35s/s320/vulkodlak3.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: Your self titled demo truly has a Scandinavian spirit, hard to believe it's actually USBM. So what would you say are some of your biggest influences in Black Metal? </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: Well I would say with very little apprehension, that Immortal is my favorite band...period. My vocal style is very influenced by Abbath. I do have to give current Ardurous frontman Pat Price credit for helping me develop a natural, non-harmful, "correct" way of singing, he taught me vocal tracks i hope i never stop doing. The Scandinavian stuff is what truly got me into black metal to the degree i am now. When I first heard Transylvanian Hunger, I was hooked. I understood what it was doing regardless of the quality. They achieved atmosphere!!! And that is key in black metal. Euronymous could do it, Varg could do it, Demonaz could do it, Lord Ahriman, Jon Nodtveidt, Satyr, etc. They all knew how to do it right. I think the first time this was truly captured was on Bathory's "Under the Sign of the Black Mark".....that shit has the most mood of perhaps any black metal album since. I'm also highly influenced by the less recognized Slavic bands such as Root, Tormentor, and Graveland as well as by the French bands like Mutiilation, Vlad Tepes, and Torgeist. So much variety black metal has to offer.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: You're going to be playing the Dirty South fest this coming July with Goatwhore. How are the preparations going for that? And any other news for upcoming gigs you'd like to share? </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: We are certainly looking forward to the Deathfest. It's truly probably the biggest metal event to come to Birmingham....at least in a very long time. A lot is going to go into it for sure, just on our end alone, not counting all the stuff going into the show as a whole. We already have the set planned out and to call it blistering would be a grave understatement!!!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: Rites of the Equinox, was by far my favorite track off the demo. This track could have totally fit in on a classic Immortal album. But with the other tracks on the demo the sounds and styles change quite frequently. Was this something you planned? Or did it simply happen during the writing process? It's nice to see a new band that's not a one trick pony. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: That really means alot coming from someone knowledgeable on black metal as you are. I really wanted to give it a pagan feel, so on that song it was definitely planned. I can't escape my roots man, 80's thrash metal was my first real love in the world extreme metal. Slayer was my first favorite band and stayed that way for a long time. A lot of Slayer elements come through in my writing because that was what really got me into guitar, it just happens when i write. I definitely do try to vary my songs, that is intentional, just depends what I'm writing about lyrically. The riffs and lyrics have to match up in my mind hahahaha, if that makes any sense. It doesn't matter it makes sense to me.....most of the time anyway. The song Vulkodlak is our representation so therefore I wanted all the elements of the band to be in it in some fashion. Bewitching the Pious was the first song Bobby and I ever wrote and honestly it kinda wrote itself. As the Witch Consumes is an ode to the old school more thrash based stuff like Celtic Frost, Venom, Bathory.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Shawn: Ozzy era or Dio era Black Sabbath? </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Justin: Dio will always be one of the true kings of metal, a true genius and in no way I'm I even comparing he and Ozzy as vocalists, because there is no comparison....Dio hands down. But!!!! The stuff with Ozzy is what started this whole thing that I'm so privileged to be a part of.....so Ozzy era all the way</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 20px;">Shawn: Thank you very much for doing this interview. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well here we go again, Silencer is a Depressive Black Metal band from good ole Sweden. And they are mostly know for the front mans history, Not sure on the REAL story but I've heard a few versions. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1) He murdered a child with an axe </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">2) He cut off his hands during the recording of this album</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">3) He spent five years in an Asylum</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well it remains to be seen exactly which of those are true, or if they are just some type of hype used for the band. Well never mind all that bullshit lets get to the review here. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This album starts out with the title track, Death Pierce Me. It starts off with a soft and melancholic aucostic riff that last about a minute... Well then it goes completely insane after that, regardless of all the shit I listed that might or might not have happened with the vocalist, one thins is true. You have to be pretty fucked up to belch out vocals like this fucker does. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">For the next track we have, Sterile Nails And Thunderbowels. Yea I'm not joking thats the title. It's a little more slow paced than the title track was but the vocalist still uses those crazy as Black Metal vocals, and even uses some "Spoken Word" in this track... If you really wanna call it that. lol </span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">For the fourth track we have, The Slow Kill In The Cold. Which is more than likely the highlight of the album. It just has more "musically" than the rest of the tracks. Some repeated samples shortly after the halfway mark and the guitars are varied on this album more than the other tracks. Sometimes I can even feel some "thrash" in this track. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm kind of torn on this track, I absolutely LOVE the music on this album. But I find myself lost with the vocals. I just really don't "get" the sound he's using here. It comes off as cheesy in parts and WAY over the top in others. I know this is suppose to be "Depressive Black Metal" But meh...</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm also bored with all the bullshit I hear about the vocalist, at first I thought it was cool, until I realized there was a 99% chance it was all bullshit just to get some infamy in the black metal scene. And sadly it's worked, fans really need to open there eyes and understand that just because somethings said, that doesn't mean its true. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Look at the vocalist of shining for instance. The band claimed he KILLED himself and was replaced by a close friend on vox via his wishes. Which will all know was a load of bullshit to get some hype around the band. And sorry guys.... I fucking hate shining. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">But bullshit aside, I enjoyed this album, but I can only take so much of the vocals. I would love if someone would send me a version of this album with no vocals. :D </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Well first off I'd like to thank everyone who voted for this album, always makes me super fucking happy when you guys vote for something I personally love! Kudos you crazy fucks! </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Does The Pain Excite you? Is an album I've known and loved since it was released in 2007. They play a VERY unique mixture of Trash/Industrial and a hint of some other stuff in the mixture as well. This band is pretty hard to classify so I'm not going to attempt to do it myself. But It's be called "Kickass Bladerunner Thrash" Which is very fitting with the Industrial and Electronic elements used on this album. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Some of you should already know the man behind the helm on this album is none other than Morfeus, formerly of Limbonic Art and more recently a session member of Mayhem. So it's no surprise that this album kicks a lot of ass right? </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This is a ten track affair clocking in at just over fifty minutes in length and the first thing your going to hear is the track "Babylon" Which is a pretty straight forward metal track with more than enough riffs to break your neck too. And some very interesting synth work here as well. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbJZ0wQNjxwBmHvaTeJqK1PrN0qiNSx_rHAKgsLCPsajjsfJXQ0oJcw_RmPwVLQLbiWcbl1LMTnnIsp_3fR0P03E4xrqciOz7PXfhYF2gXhv9DpFHQVqSpaIEJAXuzB4La_52JePgaTU4/s1600/168441_115813435156727_115812865156784_131683_1483299_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbJZ0wQNjxwBmHvaTeJqK1PrN0qiNSx_rHAKgsLCPsajjsfJXQ0oJcw_RmPwVLQLbiWcbl1LMTnnIsp_3fR0P03E4xrqciOz7PXfhYF2gXhv9DpFHQVqSpaIEJAXuzB4La_52JePgaTU4/s320/168441_115813435156727_115812865156784_131683_1483299_n.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Then they change it up completely with the next track, "Cyberqueen" Which is one of my favorite tracks on the album. This track is much slower and methodical in the way it gets you into it, more of a groove than anything and the effect Morfeus uses on his voice for this track is completely fitting of the song and the lyrics. The track is just a driving force and will no doubt prepare you for the rest of the album. .</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Another stand out track for me is "Echochamber" which has an amazing intro with a woman talking, basically apologizing to someone with some amazing sound effects. That leads into a kickass synth part then the track gets starts. It starts off pretty slow but once it gets going it fucking pummels you. Just a badass track and without a doubt my favorite track on the album. I kinda feel a little Sepultura-esque in the riffing on this track, and you know that's not a bad thing at all. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">All in all this is an amazing album, every instrument is played to perfection. Mr Moe is on bass here and he does exactly whats expected of him. and Cato really shines on the drums, that man is truly a beast behind the kit and deserves more attention then he gets. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I do have a con, just a single con about this album. The track "Pint Point Dead Man Practice" leaves me a little dead in the water. Not that's it's a bad track by any means, but just it feels inferior to the rest of the tracks on this album. And to be honest I'm not really sure what turns me off about it, just never really felt it stood up well next to the rest of the amazing tracks on this album. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: x-large;">9.5/10</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Highly suggest this album for any metal fan, esp if your into industrial and electronic infused metal as well. You won't be disappointed with this album I guarantee it. </span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Exhumed - Slaughtercult </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Exhumed hails from San Jose, California and they played mostly Grindcore until the release of this album. Then they shifted into a more "Deathlike" style but they kept their Grind roots. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Well let's just dive right into the review here, this album pulls no punches It's heavy from start to finish. The first track is "Decrepit Crescendo" and it gets brutal immediately. Just non stop action the entire way through this 34 minute album. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Actually this is one of those albums where, well hell the entire thing sounds the same lol. Might as well be a 34 minute single track. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">All the lyrics on this album are exactly what you would expect, heres an example from the track </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">"Dinnertime In The Morgue"</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">"Bowels bleeding black - As they are consumed</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">Intestinal tract - splatters all over your tomb</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">Consuming impulse - The larvae are gorged</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">The corpse starts to convulse - Dinnertime in the morgue"</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">Nothing new and nothing surprising on this album. This is the type of music that you put on for the sheer brutality. Just to have something to bang your head to, this is without a doubt not a "thinking mans" music. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">But while this album feels stale and underproduced in parts, It does retain a certain "Charm" The instruments are played with skill, there is no doubting that. And for the most part the vocalist is doing a decent job on the mic, thats for sure. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"> </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">This album is wonderful if you just want something heavy in the background that you don't need to think to awful much about to enjoy it. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />

</div><div><br />
</div>I was confused at first when I started this album. This album has the spirit and sound of the early 80s! They are perfectly channeling classic Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and other traditional heavy metal bands. I can say I enjoyed this release, they are "successfully" bringing back the classic sound and bringing it up to date with good production and outstanding musicianship.<br />
<div><br />
</div><div>Tracks like, "Neverending World" "Livin without fear" and "Quest for Hades" proves this band is no joke and they are hear to stay for a long time. </div><div><br />
</div><div>The singer has the perfect mix of "Rob Halford" and "Bruce Dickinson" but he still manages to keep his originality. He's pitch perfect on all of the tracks on this album. And with a couple more good albums under his belt I'm very sure he'll make quite a name for himself. </div><div><br />
</div><div>The guitars are played to perfection on this album. Perfect sound and the guitarists are quite skilled with their dual guitar attack. Loved what they do on this album. The solos in "Heart of Tokyo" are proof these guys know what they are doing behind the axe. </div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGxUjHOi-cZAOgAK5mA_avopVOe67sgAJB4pVAOP6cnTxHWxagO8VYZRrm6jgBZI9Tf-3x2Q5gGyvfmyzq0d_P0pRfwTnnETuKvFwhU1EASGsTPehYrg19svzgjThe3-Lk-Qe9maD6TxI/s1600/katana_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGxUjHOi-cZAOgAK5mA_avopVOe67sgAJB4pVAOP6cnTxHWxagO8VYZRrm6jgBZI9Tf-3x2Q5gGyvfmyzq0d_P0pRfwTnnETuKvFwhU1EASGsTPehYrg19svzgjThe3-Lk-Qe9maD6TxI/s320/katana_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>They have stellar production on this album, nothing is lost in the mix but I do have some cons. </div><div><br />
</div><div>The drummer seems a bit bored back there on a few of the tracks. Just nothing interesting going on behind the kit for me. </div><div>The singer, While I enjoy his performance. He struggles with his English a bit and his Swedish accent is extremely strong. I'd suggest a few English lessons before they record another album. </div><div>And finally, I'm not really digging the lyrics to much on this release. Not that they are "bad" per say but they're just not for me. I just felt a lack of flow on some of the tracks.</div><div><br />
</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">7.5/10</span></div><div><br />
</div><div>I Enjoyed the album and I'll keep my eye out on this band. They could be doing something special.<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright, Lets do something different today. I'm going to review a sampler called "Split Roast" by Condate Records. This album is clocking it at nearly 60 minutes. And it features 20 tracks from five different bands. So I figured i'd mix it up and review each band individually then average the score at the end. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The bands this split features are, Cancerous Womb, Colonel Blast, Diascorium, Dyscaphia, Magpyes. </span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I'm liking these tracks, More straight forward "classic" death with some noticeable thrash influence here. They even have a hint of "Progressiveness" in the mix on the first song. "Power by Proxy" The ending is quite epic and totally unexpected after listening to the first half of the song. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">All in all great stuff! I will be seeking this band out in the future. And I suggest you do so as well. </span><br />

5. Austrian Basement (live) - 4:42</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright, this band is much more straight forward DeathGrind. But it's not all that bad. The first track "Torn From Gut To Cunt" is a very nice headbanging track. But, The drum are a little to high in the mix for my taste. they should be dropped back a bit. The second track "Tepid Decrepit" is more of a laid back track and a little bit more slow paced. But still enjoyable. Same annoying drum sound though. The third track from them is "Austrian Basement" Not digging that one at all. The riffing is pretty solid but It's not getting my attention. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Decent tracks I enjoyed listening to them but I'm not to sure I'll seek them out in the future. </span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I'm not sure what to call this next band. They play a mix of Black and Grind, They kind of remind me of a bad version of "Anaal Nathrakh" their third track "The Creeping Hand" has some outstanding riffing though, I'm enjoying that much. Their fourth track "Willem Fucking Defoe" is probably my favorite track of theirs. It's more slow paced "but still fast as fuck" and it has a little more black in the mix. Which i'm enjoying since Black Metal is my favorite sub-genre. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Enjoyed two of their tracks "Willem Fucking Defoe" and "The Creeping Hand" But the rest is surely forgettable. </span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright, this band got my attention right at the start, they had an epic little Piano intro flavored with a girl crying in the background. Surely an epic way to get them started. They play a mixture of Grindcore and Brutal Death. And I must confess I am enjoying this band quite a lot. "Impious Conflagration" is the highlight for me. But the rest of the tracks are enjoyable as well. Well recorded and played with Precision. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I will be checking out this band in the future. Their musicianship and overall attitude make for a very enthralling listen. </span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Ok, this band plays a mixture of Technical and brutal Death. I Confess I was pretty much bored throughout all their tracks. Feels like they are trying a bit to hard with not enough substance. But "The Mechanics Of Serenity" and "Reduction To The Absurd" had me bobbing my head a bit. But just a little. </span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright, This isn't my first time hearing this album of course. Iced Earth is one of my favorite bands of all time and I own all their albums. But alright lets get down to the meat and bones of this review. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">"The Crucible Of Man" marks the return of Matt Barlow to the band "and a few weeks before I wrote this review he announced he's leaving..... again" But I wish him well in whatever future endeavors he decides to tackle. I'm sure he'll do well. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">While this is an Iced Earth album. I feel it just falls flat, It sounds like iced earth, It looks like iced earth, but it just doesn't feel like iced earth. After the intro we get "Behold the wicked child" which is almost a typical iced earth song. But it just feels lighter, And I guess that's my problem with this entire album. They dialed back the heaviness in place of a more "Hard Rock" feel. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Matt Barlow's vocals on this album just feel... Well they lack his normal emotion which is what makes him one of my favorite vocalists of all time. While he sounds good on some tracks "Minions of the Watch" and "Crucify the King" are both good examples of the normal Matt Barlow sound. But I'm not feeling him to much on the rest of the tracks. And trust me, that makes me very sad to say that about him. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This album is filled to bursting with your normal iced earth sound, Galloping riffs, Cool solos, and great song writing. But like I've mentioned earlier, It just feels "Lighter" to me for some reason. And well I'm not digging the sound here as I normally do. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">It pains me to give this album a low score, As Iced Earth is one of my favorite bands. But in all honesty this album just doesn't do it for me. I've been rather bored with the band since "The Glorious Burden" was released. While that was a "good" album it only had three songs I truly enjoyed, and come back to often "the Gettysburg Trilogy" </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Let's hope they bring it with the next album. I truly hope so. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-size: x-large;">6/10</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;"><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Devin Townsend has stamped out a very good name for himself with his previous work in "Strapping young lad" and a string of solo albums that both prove he's a musical genius, and a lunatic as well. From his concept album "Ziltoid the Omniscient" Which is about an alien who comes to earth and demands the universe's best cup of coffee. Displeased with the cup he is presented he destroys the earth. And trust me it gets crazier from there. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Now we have "Deconstruction" which is another conceptual piece about a man who travels to hell to learn the secrets of the universe from Lucifer, Well the prince of darkness in turn gives him a cheeseburger. But this presents a problem because the main character of the story is a vegetarian....... Yea I'm not joking. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Devin Townsend is known for his Insanity when it comes to his music. And this album is no Exception, Deconstruction is filled with craziness but also musical perfection. This can be considered a "Progessive Metal" album but I rather call it a "Insane Badass Metal" Can that be a sub-genre now? I COINED THAT TERM! </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright, well the album starts off with "Praise the Lowered" Which is an epic track to begin this epic journey. Lyrics like. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">AH, GIMME THAT WINE!</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">GIMMEE THAT ACID!</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">AND I WANNA LOSE EVERYTHING THATS POLICING US, </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">AND THEN EVERYTHING MUST BEGIN!</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">AND I WANNA DO HEROIN!</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">AND I WANNA DO CRACK COCAINE!</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">AND I WANNA LOSE EVERYTHING BUT RELEASE…WHY DON'T YOU JUST:</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">SMOKE THAT FUCKING WEED BOY, DRINK THE WINE…</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">Prove that he's just as crazy as ever. But the music on this song, from the long and ethereal even "sci-fi" intro. to the heavy and perceptive ending "Which features guest singer Paul Kuhr from Novembers Doom" It's a wonderful track and also a perfect way to set up this crazy album. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">Another stand out track on this album is "The Mighty Masturbator" clocking in at over 16 minutes it's truly an epic fucking song. Filled with his normal craziness and prayers to god, satan, and himself. lol this is just a track that grabs you and doesn't let go. But what have we learned from this song? Devin Townsend has his special saving the world boots on. ;) </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">All in all this is a wonderful album as always. But did we expect anything less? I didn't. When I come to Hevy Devy I come expecting two things. Excellent musicianship and insanity, and this album delivers both in spades. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">While I don't feel this will be on my top albums of the year list, but I do know I will come back to this album in the future for many more listens. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: x-large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">8.5/10</span></span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Multinational Corporations is a Grindcore band hailing from Pakistan. I don't really know much about the band myself. But you can totally feel the hatred of America on this demo. Even the cover art "Which is US dollar toilet paper" </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Well, The first thing i'd like to mention is the fact that I don't like Grindcore. lol So be sure to check out the band for yourself if you're into it. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This has really bad production, but I tried to keep in mind that this was a demo from Pakistan after all. But I give them credit for putting it together. And to be honest I didn't even know Pakistan had a metal scene until I spoke with the guitarist of this band. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The album starts off with the track, Presidential Castration. And we get exactly what we expect. Grind! Very much Punk inspired as well "Which I also dislike lol". We're subjected to some pretty simplistic riffs on this track. But it does have an interesting Spoken word bit near the end. Pretty much the only part I enjoyed on this track. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Then we have, Immolating the Parliament. Which is a pretty much standard Grind track. And it's only 1:17 in length. It's not that bad of a track. But I'm not digging the guitars here. Not really liking the guitar sound they are using here. Just not "meaty" enough for my taste for this style of music. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">And finally we have, Pakistan Zindabad. It's just an Acoustic track with what sound like sound clips from news reports. I actually like this track somewhat. Even though there are some fuck ups with the guitar work. But it's a powerful track nonetheless. I enjoy the light and simple guitar riff in contrast with the sound clips. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">All in all this album wasn't my cup of tea. Not to much a fan of grindcore and the production was a turn off for me. But if you're into grind and aren't afraid of some poor production be sure to check them out. Maybe they'll get some better production for their next release. Would be nice to see a band from Pakistan get some buzz in the Metal scene. </span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Alright the first thing I noticed was how much Novembers Doom sounds like Amon Amarth. It's crazy! lol just kidding of course. Thats for Larry. ;) </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Well, Once again 2011 has proved to be an amazing year for Metal. And this album is further proof that this band has done nothing but grow over the years. I've been a fan of this band since I heard "The Pale Haunt Departure" for the first time. Which up until this point was my favorite album by the band. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Aphotic is business as usual for the band, yet at the same time they have expanded their flow and even got a bit "Darker" Now "The Pale Haunt Departure" had a very dark theme to it. But this album just feels more Visceral, Violent. It's just beautiful brutality. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Tracks like, Harvest Scythe, Of Age And Origin - Part 1 & 2, and Six Sides. Prove that this band constantly evolves. No two tracks on this album have the same sound but they all have a dark theme to them. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHPSKRnXP6TslpHjtrHtVkPJm-WxhWnKGuAW5Ov-lURlEIjjDmTtuj6y0WtREWuQg0Y2FzTTBO04kEiZ7MhXwzpZ2DmBvW-2naXdNAoRtyEfsTlh9LmrnseV6hxBhxpOYx_ikBo1GZ7Rw/s1600/288_photo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHPSKRnXP6TslpHjtrHtVkPJm-WxhWnKGuAW5Ov-lURlEIjjDmTtuj6y0WtREWuQg0Y2FzTTBO04kEiZ7MhXwzpZ2DmBvW-2naXdNAoRtyEfsTlh9LmrnseV6hxBhxpOYx_ikBo1GZ7Rw/s320/288_photo.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Once again the vocalist absolutely outdoes himself with the lyrical content. I'd like to say he is a Metal Poet with the lyrics he writes. They remain dark throughout the album but they retain a sense of bliss. Even if it's blissful murder. The outro on "Buried" Is also a highlight. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Here's a good example of that, This is a small piece of the lyrics from Harvest Scythe.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">I am the fear you have at night</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">I haunt the dreams of those who know</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">You’re afraid because you know I’m right</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">For this night, I will feed on your eyes</span></span><br />
<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">The guitars on this album are played with skill and precision, Vito and Larry prove they can write both Brutal and Beautiful guitar melodies. I would almost even dare to say this is them at their very best. From the Acoustic melodies on "Shadow Play" to the fucking Brutal riffing on "Of Age and Origin pt1" and the amazing solo in "Buried" They show they can play pretty much any style with fluidity and grace. Hats off to them. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">The drummer has also really come into his own on this album. Loving everything he's doing behind the kit on this album. His work on the track "Shadow Play" really stands out on this album. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">All in all this is an amazing album. And I might even dare to say this is Novembers Doom at their very best. </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">Zero cons with this album. This album is pretty much perfect. As we expect from Novembers Doom. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; line-height: 16px;">Alright, Here we are once again for our weekly fan choice review. This week we're review an album by "The Project Hate" and it's their newest work, "Bleeding The New Apocalypse" Thanks to everyone who voted, Except for my friend Zartin, "Who added and voted for Ke$sha" I hate you Zartin! </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; line-height: 16px;">I've been a fan of the band for a few years. Their 2003 album, "Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate" is my personal favorite. They've always had a pretty Unique sound, They play a mixture of, Death Metal, Melodic, Industrial, and they can be pretty thrashy sometimes as well. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">The album starts off with the track "Iesus Nazarenus Servus Mei" Right away when the song starts you know they have changed a lot. They've always had a smidgen of Thrash in their sound but it's overwhelming apparent</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"> on this song. They even bust out some obviously Megadeth inspired riffs in the latter part of the track.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4seuWs-iIucoF7K7uNPE1I7pMKBQFKtFB_eVZGujkFtWmAZS0JwZTlZhBwPR8pLF5i_W_Wt9ZmQZEn6YWdrilGDuRVhjPJGaBL6T7f9qR1-fAaUNAEdcUyzX65UZQcGIA7xTAFMqiKU4/s1600/1247_photo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4seuWs-iIucoF7K7uNPE1I7pMKBQFKtFB_eVZGujkFtWmAZS0JwZTlZhBwPR8pLF5i_W_Wt9ZmQZEn6YWdrilGDuRVhjPJGaBL6T7f9qR1-fAaUNAEdcUyzX65UZQcGIA7xTAFMqiKU4/s320/1247_photo.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;">Another thing I noticed right away, They have a new female vocalist. And well I don't like her much at all. Their former vocalist, "Jo Enckell" Was amazing and I loved her work. I'm not digging the new female vocalist to much. Jo is just on a whole other level when it comes to talent. It's a shame she's no longer in the band. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 16px;">A Revelation of Desecrated Heavens, Kinda feels like a return to form for the band. Really cool stuff going on in this track, Could totally pass off as a extra track from, </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;">"Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate" They even have some sick backwards vocals near the halfway mark. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;">All in all though I was pretty letdown by this album. Just not feeling it to much. And with my dislike of the new female vocalist it just puts a stamp on it.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;">If this is your first time hearing the band you will probably enjoy this album. But if you've been a fan for awhile and you know their previous work you should feel it's a disappointment as well.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
